Concrete
Ubiquitous, commonplace, and literally foundational. In the urban jungle, concrete all but surrounds us: sidewalks, facades, window sills, rubble. Who would consider this a thing of beauty? And yet through the eye of the artist we can discover afresh its form, texture, and unique properties. Third in our “Elements of Tbilisi” series, Concrete explores this most basic of materials from various angles to draw out deeper appreciation for it and all the ways it supports and connects us.

Oksana Vinogradova
is a multidisciplinary artist who works in graphic materials, collage, installations, and photography. She has an MA from the Art and Industry Institute of Moscow and specializes in research-based practices that reflect everyday life and surroundings in her art. The main themes of her works are rethinking architectural ruins, the passage of time, nature, and transformation in and around us. She is currently exploring integrating objet trouvé (found objects) into her works.

Ani Abramidze
is a Georgian artist and printmaker specializing in experimental cyanotype. She is currently finishing her masters degree at the Tbilisi State Academy of Arts’s Faculty of Easel Graphics. Ani is inspired by people and how they exist in the world. Her work explores the personal and universal feelings created by a person’s presence or absence in our lives.

Uta Gagua
is a Georgian illustrator and animation concept and cleanup artist. He works in both traditional and digital media and draws inspiration from a wide range of sources, including classical music by Beethoven, works by the Impressionists, and the films of Quentin Tarantino. He is currently developing his own animated short film. Uta also has a Harvard Certificate in Ancient Egyptian Art. With so many interests and projects he is sometimes referred to as, “Uta, The Busy Artist.”
